  Williams Captures Final MVP of 2008
OWENSBORO, KY - It's only fitting that the final MVP of the season go to one of the best players, on one of the best teams in the Tri-State. Owensboro's Yantae Williams takes home the Week 13 NEWS 25 Home Team Friday MVP.

Tyler Zeller Out For The Season
CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - North Carolina says forward Tyler Zeller will likely miss the rest of the season with a broken wrist. Zeller was the Indiana high school Mr. Basketball last year at Class 3A champion Washington.

Memorial Plays Semi-State on Friday
Evansville's Reitz Memorial High School will be playing in the 3A Semi-State Football game this Friday, November 22nd.

They'll play at 6:30pm CST at Enlow Field.

Aces “D“ Too Much For Govs

EVANSVILLE - One look at the halftime boxscore told the University of Evansville's players what they had to do. And they did. After Austin Peay shot 61 percent in the first half, the Purple Aces held the Governors to just 29 percent shooting in the second half as the Aces won their season opener on Saturday at Roberts Stadium, 70-62.



Aces Sign Derek Johnson, Colt Ryan
EVANSVILLE - Two players who University of Evansville basketball coach Marty Simmons expects to make an immediate impact next season have signed national letters of intent with UE. Colt Ryan is a 6'4" guard from Batesville, Ind. and Derek Johnson is a 6'7" guard/forward from The Woodlands, Texas.

Gribbins Grabs Week 12 MVP
EVANSVILLE, IN - He has had one of the best seasons at quarterback in the Tri-State, and now he's a NEWS 25 Home Team Friday MVP. The viewers vote in Memorial's Grant Gribbins as the Week 12 winner.

Aces Take On 12th Ranked Missouri Friday
EVANSVILLE - Big 12 Tournament champ Missouri will host the University of Evansville Friday in the first round of the NCAA Women's Soccer Tournament. Illinois faces Memphis in the other half of Friday's doubleheader, and the winners meet Sunday in round two. Game times will be announced Tuesday by the University of Missouri.

The Viewers Elect Duncan Week 11 MVP
HUNTINGBURG, IN - The fans were in the voting mood this National election week. Southridge fans had the best campaign as the Raiders tailback Brent Duncan wins the popular vote. Duncan helped Southridge eliminate North Knox in the 2A Sectional Semifinal to earn the Week Eleven NEWS 25 Home Team Friday MVP.

Aces to Name Floor Arad McCutchan Court
EVANSVILLE - The University of Evansville is going to honor one of the Aces greatest sports icons. On the opening night of the regular season on November 15th, the Aces will name the Roberts Stadium floor: Arad McCutchan Court.

Robbins Resigns As Head Coach

EVANSVILLE, IN- Harrison High School Football Coach Harvey Robbins has resigned as Head Coach. Robbins has endured two horrible seasons the past two years as the Warriors are mired in a 21-losing streak. Robbins hopes to coach elsewhere next season on some high school level.



Colonels, Aces Fall Short at State

LOUISVILLE, KY - Both Henderson County and Owensboro Catholic came up short of a volleyball state title, but capped off tremendous seasons. The Colonels lost to Eventual Runner-up Sacred Heart 25-10, 25-9. Meanwhile, the Aces dropped their match to Paul Dunbar 21-25, 25-22, 25-18, after advancing with a win over Southwestern.

Ahrens Earns Spot on MVP Team
JASPER, IN - Jasper's football team has gotten better each and every week. Much of that can be attributed to quarterback Austin Ahrens. His performance in the 4A Sectional Opener earns him the Week Ten NEWS 25 Home Team Friday MVP.

Aces Picked 8th In Valley

ST. LOUIS, MO - It's one of the best college basketball conferences in the country, the Missouri Valley. This afternoon, the Missouri Valley brings in all 20 coaches for media day. It was announced that the University of Evansville men's basketball team was picked to finish eight. EVANSVILLE - It's win or go home time for Indiana High School Football teams as sectional play began this weekend. On Saturday it was the Southridge Raiders winning, and Evansville Mater Dei ending their season with a fifth straight loss.

EVANSVILLE - Former Aces standout guard, Brian Jackson, has died from a heart attack. Brian was a native of Wichita, Kan. and played at Butler County Community College before transferring to UE.

EVANSVILLE - On a perfect afternoon for football at Enlow Field, Castle and Memorial went back and forth their SIAC Finale.  In the end it was the Tigers who came away with the victory, 34-28.

HENDERSON, KY - Henderson County Fans did just enough voting to help out Colonel tailback Almondo Theus to win the Week Five NEWS 25 Home Team Friday MVP. Theus won by just 31 online votes over Nathaniel Chapman of Memorial.

Another McIntosh Wins MVP
EVANSVILLE , IN - The little brother is stepping into the spotlight. Reitz quarterback Matt McIntosh wins the Week Five NEWS 25 Home Team Friday MVP. Last year, Matt's oldest brother Paul was the MVP of the Year last season after guiding Reitz to the State Championship.

Fox Rushes to Week 4 MVP
PARADISE, IN - Central tailback Jaleel Fox could not be stopped this weekend. Fox ran right through Broad Ripple's defense en route the Week Four NEWS 25 Home Team Friday MVP. Fox rushed for 210 yards and three touchdowns for the Bears. Fox's breakaway speed made him a threat every time he touched the ball. He becomes the fifth Central player in the 10-year history of the MVP program to win the award.

Saiko Named Third Home Team Friday Live MVP of the Week

PARADISE, IN - Graham Saiko makes it a clean sweep in Week 3 NEWS 25 Home Team Friday Awards. After winning Play of the Night for his game-winning touchdown, Saiko also takes the NEWS 25 Home Team Friday MVP. Saiko was sensational in the last second comeback against Central. He passed for 295 yards, and three touchdowns. The final score came with :21 left in the game to nip Central 24-23. It's Saiko's second career MVP award.



Mt. Vernon Fans Lift Stemple to MVP
MT. VERNON, IN - Heavy voter turnout by Wildcat fans have made Mt. Vernon quarterback Eric Stemple a NEWS 25 Home Team Friday MVP for the second season in a row. Stemple passed for three touchdowns, and rushed for another in a 40-7 victory over county rival North Posey.

Foster Wins First MVP of 2008
FT. BRANCH, IN - Gibson Southern tailback and linebacker, Brandon Foster, has been selected as the Home Team Friday MVP for Week #1. It's the second year in a row Foster has been selected as MVP. Foster won in a landslide, tallying 11,627 votes on the Home Team Friday MVP online poll at news25.us.
