Boil Advisory Issued For East Side Evansville Neighborhood
EVANSVILLE - American Water tells NEWS 25 they are asking residents on Kenmore & Euclid Drive between the Lloyd Expressway and E. Chestnut Street to boil their water for at least five minutes. They say a water main break on Adams Avenue forced them to issue the advisory.
President Bush Signs Bill Extending Jobless Benefits
WASHINGTON D.C. - White House officials say President Bush signed a bill that will extend unemployment benefits for up three months for those whose benefits have run our or are about to expire.
163rd Parade Details Finalized
EVANSVILLE - The parade is scheduled to begin at 10:45 AM Sunday and the route will begin at the Whirlpool plant on US 41. The route will move south on US 41 and then east on the Lloyd to Vann Avenue before ending at the National Guard Armory. NEWS 25 will be covering the event live on Sunday around 11:00 AM.
Trailer Maker Laying Off Half Of Its Terre Haute Work Force
TERRE HAUTE, IN - Great Dane Trailers announced Thursday that about 115 Terre Haute workers will lose their jobs on December 19th. Workers were warned about the layoffs earlier this week. Great Dane says the cuts are because their customers have been hard-hit by the struggling global economy.
What Caused An Overnight Downtown Evansville House Fire?
 EVANSVILLE - News 25 learns fire investigators are combing through evidence as they try to determine what sparked a fire near a downtown Evansville apartment that injured two firefighters. A renter from that apartment complex is threatening a lawsuit. She feels that she was not at fault and is blaming her landlord.
Attorney General Mukasey Collapses During Speech
UPDATE 5:07am WASHINGTON D.C. - Attorney General Michael Mukasey is still recovering in a Washington D.C. Hospital after collapsing during a speech Thursday night. Officials say he is conscious and alert this morning. Witnesses say Mukasey began shaking during a speech to the Federalist Society and collapsed.
Future Uncertain For Proposed Electric Car Plant
FRANKFORT, KY - Funding for plans to build an electric car plant in Kentucky may be in jeopardy. Randall Waldman, CEO of Integrity Manufacturing, says General Electric Capital has pulled a $125 million commitment. GE Capital denies ever making any commitment to ZAP or Integrity Manufacturing.

DAVIESS COUNTY - A Kentucky highway has been reopened after a school bus crash in Daviess County. Transportation officials tell NEWS 25 that the school bus was full of children when it crashed into a car near Philpot on Highway 54, but fortunately none of the kids were injured.

Military Has Date For First Execution Since 1961
TOPEKA, Kan.- A former Army cook convicted of multiple rapes and murders is set to be executed next month at the federal prison in Terre Haute. It would be the U.S. military's first execution in nearly 50 years.
Campaign Workers Say They Weren´t Paid for Their Work
 HENDERSON,KY- The election's over but campaign workers tell NEWS 25 they're waiting to get paid. A Kentucky Democratic Party worker, Rachael Eckels, says she put in overtime but like others, was not paid what was promised to her. NEWS 25 worked to get to the bottom of the situation.
No Injuries Reported in Explosion at Sebree Concrete Plant
WEBSTER CO., KY - NEWS 25 was on the scene of an explosion at Meuth Concrete, near Sebree, KY. Webster County Dispatch told NEWS 25, around 12:15pm Thursday, an explosion caused extensive damage at the facility, but no injuries were reported. Meuth Concrete is at 961 Eastwood Ferry Road outside of Sebree.
Bush to Visit Fort Campbell Before Thanksgiving
FORT CAMPBELL, KY - Bush is scheduled to give a speech at the Army base on the Kentucky-Tennessee state line on Tuesday. No other details on his visit were released. Bush last visited the base in 2005 and 2004. During his 2004 visit, Bush welcomed home soldiers from the 101st Airborne Division who participated in the initial invasion of Iraq in 2003.
Window Blinds & Shades Recalled After Child Strangled
WASHINGTON - The recall involves nearly 700,000 IKEA and Green Mountain Vista blinds and shades. The Consumer Product Safety Commission says a 1-year-old girl from Greenwich, Conn., was strangled when she got caught in the inner cord of an IKEA Roman blinds set that was hanging over her playpen. IKEA sold the blinds at stores nationwide between July 2005 and this past June.
Fires At Riverside Downs Are Nothing New
 HENDERSON, KY - Looking through our archives here at NEWS 25, we learned this morning's fire was the 4th in 5 years at the former Riverside Downs track. The most recent fire happened in January of this year. Six horses died in that fire. Another fire in 2005 was ruled an arson, and a fire in 2003 killed 22 horses.
Newburgh Man Charged With Southern Illinois Bank Robbery
WAYNE CO., IL - Albert Jones, 33, of Newburgh, IN was indicted on Tuesday on one federal count of bank robbery. Authorities accuse Jones of holding up the Bean Capital Banking Center in Wayne City, IL back in April of last year.
Could Nuclear Power Be In Kentucky´s Future?
FRANKFORT, KY - Governor Steve Beshear announced an energy plan for Kentucky on Thursday. The plan says the state should look at nuclear power to generate electricity in the future. He says he wants to reduce the state's greenhouse gas emissions by 2025 and reduce its reliance on foreign fuel.

INDIANAPOLIS - The Indiana House will once again hold opening prayers before legislative work begins. Taxpayers sued over the prayers last year, but their lawsuit was turned down by a federal court of appeals.
American Automakers Take Bailout Plea To The Public
WASHINGTON D.C. - Chrysler, General Motors and Ford are hoping some public relations might revive the dead auto bailout deal in Washington. HENDERSON, KY - We've learned more about the fire that killed 28 horses and destroyed a barn early this morning at Riverside Downs. NEWS 25 was there as firefighters fought the flames and now we are on the scene as investigators find the cause.

 EVANSVILLE - Economic woes trickle-down to the Whirlpool plant in Evansville as the company plans to lay off 100 manufacturing workers in December. A spokesperson says whirlpool is reacting to soft consumer demand for its appliances.
Woman Arrested For Sexual Abuse After Meeting Teen
FAIRFIELD, IL - A Pennsylvania woman faces several criminal charges after trying to meet a Tri-State teen for sex. Miller of Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania after she met a 14-year-old girl from Wayne County, Illinois.

Suspect Denies Starting Fatal Fire at Fort Campbell, KY
GAINESVILLE, GA - The wife of a soldier from Georgia has been charged with setting a fire at their Kentucky Army base home that killed her two young children. Billi Jo Smallwood, 35, also faces a federal the death of two minors. The fire in May 2007 at Fort Campbell, Ky., killed Sam Fagan, 9, and Rebekah Smallwood, 2, and injured her husband, Army Specialist Wayne Smallwood.

GIBSON CO., IN - Gibson County Prosecutor Robert Krieg reports Rodney Hardiman, 43, pleaded guilty to possession of a deadly weapon by an inmate. Officers claim they found a homemade weapon in Hardiman's Gibson County jail cell while he was being held on a theft charge.
Grand Jury Indicts A Hopkins County Magistrate On Sex Abuse Charges
MADISONVILLE, KY - A grand jury charged Hopkins County Magistrate Wesley Lynn on Tuesday with three counts of sexual abuse and two counts of harassment. Police say the abuse happened at Regional Medical Center in Madisonville where Lynn worked as a paramedic.

Woman Sues BMV Over Vanity Plate
INDIANAPOLIS - The Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles is being sued for refusing to issue a personalized license plate with the words "BE GODS." Elizabeth Ferris of Cambridge City filed the suit in federal court on Monday. The Indiana BMV currently prohibits vanity plates that refer to race, religion, deity, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation or political party.
Big Three Automakers Continue To Beg Congress For Help
WASHINGTON D.C. - Auto executives told a Senate panel on Tuesday that if their companies fail, other businesses would go under, resulting in millions of people losing their jobs. Their proposal for $25 billion of the $700 billion financial bailout looks like it will go nowhere in the Senate. On Wednesday, the executives will make their plea to a House committee.
Evansville Firefighter Suffers Second-Degree Burns In Overnight Fire

EVANSVILLE - Dispatchers tell us firefighters were called to 712 SE First Street around 1:45 AM Wednesday. Officials on scene tell us two firefighters were hurt. One firefighter was taken to Louisville with second-degree burns to his face & hands. They say the people living in the building were able to get out.

EVANSVILLE - NEWS 25 has learned that the man who lost his seat on the Vanderburgh County Commission is now claiming that the man who defeated him is ineligible to serve. Mark Foster, attorney for Vanderburgh Co. Commission President Jeff Korb (R), told NEWS 25 the result of the election is invalid, because Steve Melcher (D), who won the seat on November 4th, is employed by a non-profit agency that receives federal funds.

INDIANAPOLIS - The Indiana Court of Appeals upheld the constitutionality of the state's "In God We Trust" license plates. On Monday, the appeals court rejected a claim that people who buy the plates should have to pay a $15 fee charged for other specialty plates.

Hunter Found Fatally Wounded In Western Kentucky
BEAVER DAM, KY - Police in western Kentucky are investigating the death of a hunter who was found in a deer stand in Ohio County. Kentucky State Police say the hunter was identified as Glen Felton Jr. of Louisville.
